Getting Away from Winter

And who wouldn't want to this year? When we left the house on Wednesday morning (this is being typed from a hotel room in Dubai) it was -19 C with a windchill of -26. All the more reason to head to the other side of the world for this next cruise.

This is what we left. Franklin, watching the birds and the squirrels digging through the snow in the backyard.

This year we are once again taking two segments of Crystal Serenity's World Cruise, from Auckland, New Zealand to Perth, Australia and then onward from Perth to Capetown, South Africa. Although we have spent quite a bit of time in the region over the past few years, once we leave Hobart, Tasmania we will not have ever visited any of the remaining ports of call.

To end off the cruise in Capetown we have an extra special event - Monica has a second cousin (once removed) who has lived in South Africa for many years. As it turns out he and his wife will be in Capetown at the same time and are going to play tour guide for us. We're hoping to be able to get them passes to visit the ship as well. More on that later.

So we hope that you enjoy following along as we head Down Under one more time.
